Our practice focuses on projects ranging from targeted clinical upgrades to comprehensive renovations up to 33,000 SF and $9 million, with particular expertise in phased construction that minimizes disruption to patient care and facility operations.Since 2000,we've completed 50+ healthcare projects totaling over $40 million for Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, and MetroHealth.

We have delivered environments across the full spectrum of healthcare delivery—from primary and express care to highly specialized clinical settings. Our portfolio includes diagnostic imaging suites (MRI, mammography, ultrasound, X-ray), cancer treatment centers, sterile processing departments, and compounding pharmacies,as well as specialty clinics in orthopedics, cardiology, ophthalmology, behavioral health, and cosmetic surgery. We've also designed clinical laboratories, rehabilitation centers (PT/OT/pediatric therapy), and administrative/educational facilities.

Our work with K-12 educational clients includes projects for public, private, and parochial schools, including multiple projects with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District; Our higher education experience includes projects for major universities such as Ohio State University, the University of Akron, and Kent State University.

Projects have included both new construction and renovation. We have also designed schools based on the nationally recognized New Tech collaborative learning model.

Metropolitan Architecture Studio specializes in the design of laboratories and has designed laboratories for higher education, K‐12 education, research hospitals, and private corporations. We work closely with the owner’s project manager, the lab’s end users, engineering consultants, and safety and health personnel, establishing guiding principles at the outset of the design. These include the nature of the tasks performed in the lab; required materials and equipment; the degree of flexibility required with respect to future programming; constraints of existing conditions for renovations; and goals for sustainability.

Our urban design work is aligned with the philosophy of the New Urbanism movement which advocates for walkable neighborhoods, embraces transit oriented development (T.O.D.) and traditional neighborhood design (TND). We are accredited members of the Congress for the New Urbanism, and have designed plans for neighborhoods and mixed use communities. We have worked with many of the region’s developers and understand their economic constraints, goals, and objectives. Our clients have also included community groups, non profits, and public agencies. One of our primary goals is the creation of successful and sustainable neighborhoods. Our architectural design supports the notion that buildings should be designed to add value to their surrounding neighborhoods.

Metropolitan Architecture Studio has provided design services for clients that serve the community. Our work includes projects for hospitality, government, yacht clubs, and religious organizations. We have provided services for renovation, historic preservation, and new construction projects. We believe in a spirit of partnership, and offer creativity and vision while defining and honing our designs in order balance function, efficiency, aesthetics, and budget for our clients in order to produce state of the art designs.

Metropolitan Architecture Studio has extensive experience with senior living facilities. We aim to create environments that are inspiring and comforting to residents, with connections to the outdoors, open plans, fostering neighborhood and community, and pedestrian accessibility. We have assisted clients in creating buildings and grounds that coexist with the natural environment, including the creation of dark sky communities. Our expertise of residential design combined with our healthcare experience allows us to create optimal environments for the unique needs of seniors.

Our work with corporate clients has included new construction, additions, and renovations for some of the countries largest companies including Citizens Bank, and Kraftmaid Cabinetry. We have assisted our corporate clients in creating a design identity in their projects to be used in multiple facilities as well as working with their existing corporate design and construction standards.

Metropolitan Architecture Studio provides services for residential clients including new custom home design, single family home additions/renovations, town home, cluster home design, apartments, spec home design, and retirement home design. Our designs for historic renovations/additions are carefully executed to create a seamless transition between the old and the new, and have earned us awards from the Cleveland Restoration Society. Our residential design services include services from design concept through project completion. Additionally, we offer design services for residential neighborhood and community planning.
